Alex Holtschneider is a rising senior at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, majoring in mathematics and minoring in economics. Alex intends to earn a PhD in applied mathematics. He gravitates towards studying applied mathematics because the complexity and grandiose size of the problems within the field.
This summer, he is working with Dr. Slaughter to design a micro-sized temperature sensor to wirelessly monitor the temperature of artwork. During the school year, he is working with Dr. Slaughter on creating a self-powered implantable glucose meter. When not in the lab, Alex enjoys exercising both indoors and outdoors and playing board games with friends.
